PUBLICS CONCERNED


Dancers from an amateur practice, artists with a dance practice, who wish to broaden and confirm their physical practice and plan to take the Technical Aptitude Examination, a national exam necessary for entry into training for the State Diploma of dance teachers.

 

PREREQUISITES


The student must be free of compulsory schooling and have regular practice in classical, jazz or contemporary dance.
He/she must have a sufficient technical level in dance to follow intermediate level classes.
If, at the time of admission, the candidate's technical level is judged insufficient to enter the EAT preparation program, he/she will be offered the opportunity to follow the stage training program in order to acquire a solid technical base that will allow him/her to enter this program.


ADMISSIONS


Admission to the EAT training is by audition.
The level in which the student is admitted to the technical courses depends on the level and choreographic culture of the candidate, observed during the audition and during the first weeks of training. 

DURATION OF THE TRAINING


DOUBLE CURRICULUM DANCER-PERFORMER STAGE TRAINING + EAT PACKAGE

Duration of the training in hours: 800 hour package 

Dates of the training season 2022/2023 : from 03/10/22 to 02/06/23 

Training hours (as an indication) : 9am to 6pm (between 10pm and 25pm/week)

Periods of interruption: school vacations of the zone A

Group size: between 15 and 20 people

EAT PACKAGE

Duration of the training in hours : 650 hours

LEARNING OBJECTIVES


- To acquire the knowledge necessary for a confirmed artistic practice, based on a technical training and a solid general culture.
- To build the dancer's body through the acquisition of technical bases, experience, training and the integration of the fundamentals of dance.
- To be able to reproduce a technical variation proposed from a video recording on a technical, musical and interpretation level.
- Be able to propose a personal variation taking into account the fundamentals of dance.
- Be able to make a body proposal in improvisation in response to verbal instructions.
- To be able to evaluate oneself in order to situate one's technical level in relation to the requirements of the Technical Aptitude Exam.
- To be able to position oneself, thanks to an awareness, towards a professional training with pedagogical or scenic orientation.

PREPARATION FOR THE EAT - JAZZ AND/OR CONTEMPORARY OPTION


- Multidisciplinary technical classes:
Technical classes in fundamental (jazz, classical and contemporary) and complementary disciplines (Horton, Graham, barre au sol, theater...) in the dance studio. 

Skills, knowledge, aptitudes evaluated: 
Build the dancer through experience, understanding and training in the essential technical foundations for dance movement. 

- Workshops:
>Technical workshops to acquire the vocabulary of technical and artistic elements, the fundamentals of dance...
>Improvisation and choreographic composition workshops to explore different personal writing processes. 
>Musicality & Rhythmicity" workshops: awareness and development of the "musicality" of the body and the music-dance relationship.

Skills, knowledge, aptitudes evaluated: 
To question the technique, the links between music and dance to understand the musicality of movement, to explore the foundations of danced movement (weight, space, time) to better experience improvisation and choreographic composition. 
Acquire, deepen and master the technical aspects and qualities of interpretation and creation necessary to obtain the E.A.T. 

- Preparation for the variations of the Technical Aptitude Examination: 
Technical classes and personal work time in the dance studio.

Skills, knowledge, abilities assessed:
Try to decipher a variation imposed by the Ministry of Culture from a video and audio recording. 
To appropriate the choreographic and musical universe of the choreographers to reproduce as faithfully as possible, technically and artistically, this variation of the repertoire. 
To compose a personal variation combining technique and the artistic universe of the dancer, musical choice and theme to be justified in relation to the chosen specificity. 

- Creations and stage practice:
One week of creation per term in autonomy.
Students are asked to create a piece on their own, once a term, during the creation weeks.
These creations will be presented on stage, with feedback from the artistic committee.

- Intensive course
Deepening of the imposed variations girl / boy
Work on the free variation
Work on the oral presentation 

- Role-playing / Mock exams

- Artistic opening : 
Program of performances at the Maison de la Danse (about once a month) 
Meetings, open stages and public conferences

- Courses & workshops : 
Throughout the season, internships, workshops and masterclasses are organized by the Centre Chorégraphique Calabash during weekends and school vacations and enrich the training program. 
These workshops are optional, but the participation of the student is strongly recommended as part of his/her training.

TEACHING MEANS AND METHODS


2 Dance studios equipped with audio
1 Classroom equipped with audio and video, library and audio and video supports.
Dematerialization of educational resources, timetables...
Documentary fund at disposal: books, CDs, DVDs and pedagogical resources.
Theoretical courses can be transmitted on paper, email or video.
Material means at the disposal of the students: computer, WIFI, printer.

 

ASSESSMENT


Entry to the training is by audition. 
At the beginning of the training, an evaluation of the knowledge and technical level of the trainees allows to appreciate the initial positioning and to validate the technical level. This makes it possible to detect any technical or general knowledge gaps and to suggest work areas to the trainees from the start of the training. 

At the end of each period (December, March and end of May): 
- Continuous evaluation of the students by the teachers in their pedagogical follow-up report card, feedback on the attendance and commitment during the period 
- Exam situation with restitution of personal and/or group variations, evaluation and feedback from the teaching team present. Self-evaluation of the trainees based on video recordings of their performance. 
- oral restitution of the continuous and end of period evaluations with the trainee 
- proposal of areas for improvement 

The training is validated by a certificate of completion. 

REGISTRATION FOR THE EAT EXAMINATION


The E.A.T. exam is open to candidates who are at least eighteen years old on December 31 of the current year. 
The candidate's registration is subject to the approval of the Calabash Training Center's Pedagogical Commission.
You will need to apply for EAT registration forms from the Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles (DRAC) in your region or download the registration form from the DRAC or Ministry of Culture website and return the file to the DRAC before the closing date.
The DRAC will then send you a DVD presenting the different variations imposed. The candidate will have to choose one of the 2 variations in his/her option.

OUTLOOK


After passing the EAT exam, you will be able to register for the 3 theoretical U.E. of the State Diploma of Dance Teacher.
You will have to request your training booklet from the DRAC of your place of residence, which will allow you to register for the tests to obtain the 3 theoretical U.E. and the U.E of pedagogy.
